London’s river commuters will be protected from the price increases hitting many parts of the daily spend, thanks to the freezing and reduction of the cost of Uber Boat by Thames Clippers’ season ticket, flexible, and cross river fares.
While other forms of transport are raising ticket prices, from 5 March, the cost of a weekly, monthly, and annual Uber Boat by Thames Clippers season ticket will remain unchanged, with fares for monthly and annual season tickets for the Central & West Zone decreasing. The cost of season ticket travel in one zone starts at £29.60, £85.50, £841.90 for 1 week, 1 month, and 1 year season tickets respectively.
The freeze means that for regular River Bus passengers, season tickets continue to offer the best value for money, offering a saving of up to 73%*. For workers travelling with an annual season ticket, a single journey can work out as little as £1.61**.
March’s changes will also see Uber Boat by Thames Clippers become an even better option for commuters with flexible commuting schedules, with the price of the flex 10 ticket carnet ticket decreasing and now entitling users to 10 tickets for the price of 8, increasing from the current 10 tickets for the price of 9. Flex 4 and 6 ticket carnet prices have been frozen, with costs beginning at £16.40, £24.60 and £41.60, for Flex 4, 6, and 10 respectively.
The River Bus serves as a vital piece of London’s transport infrastructure, with Cross River Fares offering a cost and time effective way to cross the Thames between Barking Riverside and Woolwich (Royal Arsenal); Greenland (Surrey Quays) and Canary Wharf; Doubletree Docklands and Canary Wharf. The Cross River fare also remains frozen at just £3.80.
Calling at 24 piers along the River Thames, the River Bus remains a great option for the capital’s workers, serving commuters from as far west as Putney and as far east as Barking Riverside. A river commute unlocks a smoother, more relaxed journey, with easy access to boats, an onboard café bar and its tasty snacks, morning coffee, or something stronger for the way home. Season ticket holders enjoy 15% off at the onboard café bar.
With departures from as early as 5:30am, Uber Boat by Thames Clippers is perfect for those who prefer a more mindful, relaxed journey, taking in the city’s iconic views as they ease back into office life. Journey times are competitive; for example Greenland (Surrey Quays) to the City (Tower Pier) takes 15 minutes by River Bus, and Battersea to Canary Wharf, from 37 minutes.
Carnets can be purchased using the Thames Clippers Tickets app or Uber app. Season tickets are only available via the Thames Clippers Tickets app. Alternatively, passengers can pay as they go, using an Oyster or contactless payment card.
